For over 100 years, we have taken care of the animals on our family farm. Our animals are well cared for — in fact they are spoiled.
First, some basic facts:
- We have experienced animal personnel on staff who are hired to work with and take care of our animals every day.
- We work closely with our veterinarian — a second-generation vet who grew up in the business helping his dad. He is a graduate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. Each animal receives scheduled visits throughout the year as well as specific visits when necessary.
- We are strictly monitored by the PA Department of Agriculture and the USDA.
Just like people, animals are not as spry when they are seniors. And some of our Farm Friends have been with us for many years. Linvilla is a refuge where they can age peacefully. Generally, farm animals are not given that chance to age. Our older animals may sometimes look injured or sick but they are simply elderly animals who are dealing with common issues of growing older.
Sometimes we take in rescue animals as well (we have a rescue horse and a pig right now). They may appear injured but they are actually on the mend!
All of our animals go through natural changes as they age. You might notice this and be curious — we understand!

The full story on our deer:
We have had a herd of white tailed deer since the mid 1960’s. We are members of the Pennsylvania Deer Farmers Association. We are strictly monitored by PA Department of Agriculture and the USDA.
Often in the Spring and Fall, the deer change their coats to prepare them for the next season. This transition is not pretty but is necessary for the well-being of the animals. We give our deer grain, fresh produce and water every day. We give them great care — their home is under chestnut trees that provide shade, wind protection, and the nuts that the deer would eat as part of their diet in the wild.
A few of our deer were born here and are now elderly. Lately, they have not been gaining weight as they should be. This is a natural part of the aging process and we are monitoring their weight. Know that ALL of our animals are very well fed and well loved!
